Luxury Cookies

What is Luxury? By definition it means: adding pleasure or comfort, but is not absolutely necessary. We can extend that definition and say it means something desirable, costly and hard to get. But as far as cookies are concerned, I want to go with the first definition: something that adds pleasure and comfort.

I recently visited a very fancy cookie store. It had a very cute area to snap pictures to share to social media. But the cookies were huge…AND they were also $6.50 a piece. After choosing some of the more interesting and popular flavors, I asked the person behind the counter what their favorite  cookie was. They said, “I don't like cookies, honestly, I prefer brownies.” While I totally respect that, I didn’t feel any pleasure or comfort from them after just spending $40 on six cookies. I brought them home, shared them with my family, and we thought the cookies were tasty, but there were not memorable, they didn’t add comfort, pleasure, or luxury. And, we didn’t even finish them.

When I bake, I use all of my senses; but most importantly, I use my heart. This year especially, I want to create and share cookies that add comfort, pleasure, and, yes, luxury, into our day.
