Cookie Therapy
There is no question, that this pandemic has taken a toll on our well-being. I feel so fortunate about so many things, but I still find myself struggling with anxiety, and that huge sense of the unknown, and feeling disorganized. During the week, I generally keep a fairly regular schedule and create a general to-do list. But, I still struggle.
When the days run together, I feel more disorganized, and when I feel disorganized, I tend to get distracted, my to-do list grows, and crossing off things becomes a rarity. I also tend to withdraw. Mindfulness helps, meditation helps, hiking helps, but I have come to realize: that cookies help too.
I’ve started to add “Cookies” to my to-do list. At first, it was to bake, then it was to write, but lately, it has been to enjoy with a cup of tea. It makes me stop and have a moment - and it always gets crossed off on the to-do list.
We have been at the Sherman Oaks Farmers Market on Tuesdays since November, and frequently you will hear us state “all the butter, all the sugar.” (these are very true statements). But what you will also hear is “all the magic” and “all the love.” (And also, “and vodka - as is the case with our lemon poppyseed cake).
We believe this. Share the magic and love of a cookie, with yourself.
